During his years in school, John did not achieve anything of significance. However, he passed all of his classes with relatively good grades, discovering a passion in science as time went on. In high school, John would join the Junior ROTC program after increased insistence by his grandfather to join.

	But sometime in 2028, during his Junior year, his grandfather would pass. Mere hours before he passed, John's grandfather would pass his bomber jacket down to John, alongside his medals and formals. This ~~would~~ put John in a depressive state for a few months, ~~but he~~ would ~~relatively~~ recover~~, dedicated to making his grandfather proud once more~~. 	He would graduate from high school in 2029, having become a Cadet Major in his JROTC group. He would leave with a mark, with 30 different ribbons. Because of this, and his good grades overall, John would be accepted into the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he would pick up Nuclear Physics and Nuclear Engineering. This is when he would meet one [[Asakura Nakatomi]] during Nuclear Physics, and become good friends with her. 			However, in April of 20XX, Asakura and Maya had scraped enough money together to fund their first real project, an independent study focusing on nuclear power. With the assistance of a local nuclear plant, which would later become the Squaxin Plant, the Laboratory conducted a few tests on a mixed Uranium/Plutonium nuclear reaction, the first of it's kind. The study succeeded, showing mixed Uranium/Plutonium (UriPlo) reactions were a viable source of energy, albeit a bit difficult to stabilize.

			In light of this discovery, the Laboratory was visited by the Department of Energy within weeks, where representatives sat down with Asakura and Maya and discussed their study.
